If you want to know the minutest detail of the most historical Trojan helmets, that formed a part of the ancient Greek male costume, especially during war, the black and bronze were the most liked ones. In fact, such a helmet combined with a black or red plume finished up the overall look of the costume. Spartan helmets were another type of helmets that most Greek men liked to go in for.
The basic design of these helmets, like everything else about the ancient Greek male costume, was their evident ‘plainness’. A plain silver-colored helmet, made of iron and steel, was the most loved of all the designs. This particular one was sans the plume. This was worn by the fighters among the ancient Greek men – the Spartan foot soldiers who were the practical force of the Greeks during times of war!

The most ancient of hairstyles were a result of the use of knives, hairpins and combs. As time passed, women started using hair additions and artistic wigs. In fact, ancient women were considered all the more attractive if their hair were long as well as thick. It was believed that the length and thickness of hair lent it greater beauty and added on to a woman’s appearance.
The hairstyles of ancient Greeks were unique in more ways than one. The most popular hairstyle was the ‘Green Knot’. For this particular style, the ancient Greek hairstyles of women used to hold their hair together and formed a knot at the neck. Ever since those times, buns and knots have always been in fashion, with novel variations. Ancient Greeks also made use of saffron to lighten the color of their hair, so as to further enhance the style.

Different periods of Greek history left their mark on the costumes worn by the Greeks. The weather too had its affect as some Greeks wore cloaks during cold. Light leather sandals or boots were a part of the ancient Greek costume to be worn for going outdoors. Costumes for babies were generally linen diapers, though older children wore a cloth wrapped around their waist.
Along with the regular chitons, the ‘peplos’ was a part of the costume of women. It was a shorter tunic worn over the chitons, and was mostly embroidered. These basic costumes were worn by Greeks for centuries. In fact, when studying about Greek costumes it becomes quite clear that the people of Greece were definitely concerned about simplicity and comfort of their attire.
